B.A.R.F. Diary VI ~ 真的一樣?

Tigger: 大家都知道我馬迷非常偏心Meow格. 每天都讓我雙眼巴巴地盯著看Meow格吃我沒得吃的好東西, 這也就算了! 可是我發現馬迷居然也偏心Beans 格, 這....這怎麼可以!!! Beans 雖是我葛格, 怎麼說也是比我後來的啊! 怎麼可以後來居上?? 太偏心了! 我好命苦啊! 我不管! 今天我就是要來告狀! 武哇!

Tigger: 有一天我聽到馬迷說,"哎呀! 還有這麼多雞胸肉, 不吃會壞掉! 煮一些來給小子們吃吧!" 你看! 只有"多到會壞掉"才想到我們喔! 哼!

Tigger: 於是我看馬迷這裡撥撥那裡弄弄地, 變出了一些她說她自己看了都很想吃的東西....

Tigger: 然後我又聽她碎碎唸些什麼再多加一點雞肉, 多吃一點長的壯之類話.....什麼叫掌得撞呀?

Tigger: 我很餓了! 有飯我當然就趕快吃, 我可是吃飯第一名的乖寶寶. 可是, 這飯味道怎麼怪怪的? 麻是不是給我加了什麼"掌得壯"?

Tigger: B格, 你有沒有覺得飯味道怪怪的? 你吃的跟我一樣嗎? 讓我試試!

Meow: 那傢伙發什麼神經? 連我都覺得這麼好吃的東西說! 嘖!

Tigger: 可是我還是覺得我這碗飯不對呀! B格, Meow 格那碗味道怎樣?

Tigger: 真的沒問題? 那給我試試!

Tigger: 看你吃的那麼起勁, 難道我的真的是一樣的? 我再吃一次我的看看....

Tigger(搖頭): 不對不對! 明明味道就是怪怪的....好像一樣...又好像不一樣....

Tigger: B格為什麼還可以吃的那麼高興? 有問題! 他吃的肯定跟我的不一樣, 我的一定是被動了手腳!

Tigger: 難道真的飯藏在桌下?

Tigger: 這麼難吃的東西誰要吃? 埋起來也罷!!! 嗤!

Tigger: 麻! 那個我不要了! 換一碗來!! 馬麻! 馬麻! 你有沒有聽到!!

Tigger: 把拔你最疼我啦! 麻不給我吃飯耶! 拔! 拿飯給我啦! 肚子好餓喔!

KDD: 噓! 把拔現在不能幫你啊! 你沒看到你媽在看? 拔會挨罵的, sorry, 寶寶!

Tigger: 可惡! 到底給不給飯啊? 真是叫貓家怒火中燒, 飢餓難耐......

KMM: 飯就在那裡啊! 你去吃啊.......

Tigger: 好! 我沒得吃, Meow 格也別想吃!

Tigger: 我來吃他的乾乾! 咦? 乾乾呢?

(早就被快手的KMM使出乾坤大轉移, 移走啦!)

Meow: 馬麻! 馬麻! Tigger 把我的飯飯袋咬破啦?

KMM: 咬破? 在哪?

Meow: 你看!! 他生氣就跑來咬我莊飯的袋袋! 好可惡喔! Tigger 是壞寶寶對不對?! 我是乖寶寶喔!

KMM: 唉! Tigger 你這臭小子! 對你好你一點都不知道! 來吧! 我把雞胸肉挑起來了! 來吃飯啦!

Tigger: 這樣還差不多!!! 哼!

KMM: 我這生肉飲食卡的還真久! 一來好忙, 沒有時間準備生肉(又不放心買做好的), 二來三貓挑嘴成性, 不吃人食, 不好轉換. 這樣也拖了快十個月. 這期間有機會就煮點給三貓吃, 心想慢慢讓他們多練習, 習慣吃罐頭與乾乾以外的食物.

這次好不容易挑嘴Meow肯捧場, Tigger居然死不就範. 平時最定食定量的他居然真的不吃喔! 看他重覆在那裡確定每一碗都一樣的樣子(每碗至少査了三次啊!), 真是又好氣又好笑! 最後還是ㄠ不過他, 在晚餐過後半小時(確定他真的不肯吃), 把雞胸肉都挑掉才給他吃.

所以囉! 生肉飲食還是得慢慢來吧! 一點都急不得啊!

B.A.R.F.DAIRY V ~ 天下父母心

前情提要~

吃 BARF (生肉飲食) 的第一步驟 - 一天只供應兩餐, 不能吃"把費", 這沒花多少時間與力氣就做到. 心想第二步驟 - 改換全罐頭飲食, 多少貓的夢想哪, 應該也不難...... 從二月開始就已經只供應三小吃罐頭. Beans 跟 Tigger 很快就乖乖接受, 就是喵大爺寧死不肯就範. 鬥到後來老媽子我輸(喵瘦成一把骨都不肯吃), 乖乖去買乾食, 少量供應, 希望慢慢他大爺能適應而改成只吃罐頭.

四個月後 ~

喵有吃多了一點, 可是離他該吃的量還差的遠. 而且這小子每天一看有人進廚房, 就趕快跑進去痴痴地等在飯碗旁, 就看有沒有人會施捨他一點. 很明顯的對乾食還是唸唸不忘. 也正因為如此, 罐頭還是不肯吃多, 比起以前只舔兩下, 可說是進步到舔十下了吧! 也因為只有這樣不夠營養, 我再晚上睡覺前還會給他一把乾食, 看著他吃, 還得擋住前來搶食的弟弟們.

大爺還有個怪癖, 那就是要先舔遍大家碗裡的食物才甘願 (我猜是因為他喜歡罐頭汁) 而且我還在準備食物時, 他就要跳上來開始舔. 我為了鼓勵他多吃罐頭, 都睜一隻眼閉一隻眼地縱容他如此胡來, 搞他兩個小弟忿忿不平, 連 KDD 都怪我太過偏心. 可是我怎麼辦? 唯有如此喵才肯多吃呀! 碗一旦放在餐桌他就興趣缺缺了啊!

以這種進度看來, Meow 能全面接受罐頭可能要一年後(如果幸運的話), 所以我前幾個禮拜想就先改 Beans 跟 Tigger 吧! 不等 Meow 了! 雞肉都買好回家準備自己絞了.......Tigger 開始鬧花粉熱生病啦! 哇咧哩!

這小子這幾天才好, 等過幾天就和二哥正式開餐吧!!

Meow: 嗯! 我先來把這上面有肉汁的鮮美部分舔掉! 這可是我的特權喔! 哈哈!

KMM: 噓! 小聲點哪! 別讓媽咪難做人!

Tigger: ㄟ? 葛你在幹麻? 馬麻不是說要在下面等她準備飯, 不可以上去的?

Meow: 嗯! 麻是那樣說沒錯! 你就在那裡慢慢等吧!

Tigger: 什麼? 那你呢?　

Beans: 葛格怎麼在 "禁台"上? 麻明明說不可以上去的嘛! 為什麼她就讓葛格在她旁邊先吃? 不公平!!! ㄠˇ嗚!!

Tigger: 我不管, 人家也要!! 人家也要!! 瓦嗚!! 瓦嗚!!!

Meow: 走開啦!! 我吃個飯你別吵行不行?

Tigger: 哼! 那我也可以吃!!!!

Beans: 戛? 那我咧?? 我也要!!!

Meow: 叱! 你們都來, 真倒胃, 老子不吃啦!

BARF DIET IIII - MAKING PROGRESS?

Sometimes I see Meow coming back for a second round of food, dipping his head into Tigger's bowl, eating canned food while he still has dry left in his bowl. I guess what you don't have is always the best. Are we finally making progress?

BARF DIET III - MY CAT FOOD

All right, time to see what the boys have been feeding on......Meal time is such a big deal in the house....cats meowing...oven heating....cats fighting....cats climbing up my leg......all the hustles.....here is a peek of what is in their food....

Derm Caps - For healthy skin and shiny coats. I usually don't get to add this to their food. They won't eat the food if I do. It's that simple. I scoop them up and quickly squirt 1/2 syringe into their mouths. And then apologize like a crazy woman......sorry, baby, mommy is sorry......treats usually don't work at this time since all they want to do is to go away to get rid of the fishy smell in their mouths...

Wellness Cans - This is the only food they eat now. Chicken Formula or Beef and Chicken Formula. Smells like real food, I have to say. I am very tempted to give it a try... maybe one of these days I'd spread it on a piece of cracker, like Pate....

L-Lysine - Bought this for Beans, pretty worry about his infection then.

Echinacea - Now this is something I add in a few days a week, to boost their immune system. I tried to get KDD to take it too, but he never remembers to...

Vitamin E - This was for my poor Tigger's nose....everyone gets it in the food...

Zinc - Again, for Tigger...I had to try...

Vitamin tabs - Now, this I give only half a tablet at a time. If Meow eats a full one, he gets constipated...

Wellness Dry - Last but not least, Meow's victory, Tigger's anger and my lost battle....

BARF DIET II - Patience! Patience!

So, how many days have we been onto this BARF transition days? I don't know, lost counts totally, but I do know I am not winning the battle at all. At least not for now...

What do you do when your stubborn cat just wouldn't budge? Let him starve to death? I think not.

Meow was only good for one day after I mixed the dry with the wet for him. Now he has taken one step forward - He wants only dry!!! I rub the bowl with wet food before I put the dry in so that he can get used to the wet, but he would not touch the dry if it had touched the wet.

To make the matter worse, Tigger was very upset because Meow was eating different food than him, he refused to eat for a little while, two meals to be exact, but thank god for his "easily given in" nature, he is back on wet. I can't switch the food unless they are all eating the same, so patience we will have....the war is on....

The question is - How can I win?

Tigger: Hum....got to get my hands on those...

Beans: How about some food, mom? Hurry up!! We are soooo hungry!!!

Meow: Why don't I sample the food for you guys first...

Ready, mom????

We are ready!

Chow down time!

5 minutes later.....Meow barely touched his food....

What should I do???

B.A.R.F. Diary 1 - Meow's Triumph

In order to get the boys ready for B.A.R.F. diet, I need to switch them to be eating canned food only first so they can get used to the texture.

Tough job! Simply because the only cat who eats canned food in this household is Beans. Meow and Tigger just don't want any. 10 days after serving only canned food 2 times a day, Beans is in food heaven and Meow and Tigger have lost a lot of weight. Don't they eat? Yes, but only enough to get by...

Meow is the worst. He only takes 2 licks of the food and then walks away from it. Wasn't he hungry? Oh, yeah, very. He would stare at you intensively while you were watching TV with the look of " Don't you love me any more" on his face. He would sit by his food table and silently begs for food when you go into the kitchen. Not just any food, but dry food. If you ignore him, he would then start licking the food table and the empty bowls to show you how hungry he is, but as soon as you scoop some canned food into his bowl, he walks away.

The book says, " Starve them if you need to. Their survival instinct will eventually kick in and they will eat. " And I thought," Okay, Meow, if you were in a shelter, you wouldn't have a choice and I am sure you will survive."

Easy to say but soooooo hard to do! How do you say no? Those trusting eyes, so innocent!!

So, I caved in. After 10 days of struggling, after touching his " bonier" body, after picking him up and feeling the loss of weight. I caved in. Yes, I did. Now I mix dry food in the wet to get him to eat.

Kittydaddy told me," Too bad, he might have caved in first if you would have waited a couple more days."

Well, I am not about to take that chance. I guess Meow knows he has the upper hand.

Round one. Meow won. Mama lost.

Meow: Mom, where is my food? Don't you love me no more? Am I not your favorite child?

Beans: Mommy! Food! Food! Hurry up, mommy!

Yummmm....food in the stomachs....

This was when they were done. As you can see. Meow barely touched his food.
